Job purpose To facilitate experiential learning in the clinical setting by ensuring students are placed and receive learning support in the various facilities. An officer at this level will work under guidance of the Chairperson of the department in the execution of their duties and will contribute toward meeting the key performance indicators and targets of the department and the overall University mission and vision. Duties and Responsibilities include: Assessing the students' clinical competence by performing actual clinical duties and medical procedures under supervision; Identifying each student's potential and areas of improvement to adjust the instruction approach as needed; Monitoring students' progress and performance during clinical practice trainings; Identifying each student's potential and areas of improvement to adjust the instruction approach as needed; Providing direct patient care as applicable; Participating in budgeting for clinical training expenditure for the classroom, lab, hospital and community facilities timely to ensure proper running of the clinical practice trainings in the department; Taking stock and advising the Clinical Instructor II on the requisition of materials for clinical training of health sciences students during clinical practice trainings in the classroom, lab, hospital and community; Participating in departmental committee and internal clinical practice trainings in the classroom, lab, hospital and community health facility auditing; Obtaining and setting of equipment for clinical practicals Collecting and preparing of clinical practice trainings and research materials; Operating and maintaining clinical practice trainings equipment for proper working of equipment; Participating in maintenance and troubleshooting on clinical practice trainings equipment; m) Coordinating, invigilating and marking practical examination; Supervising undergraduate clinical practical Assisting in organizing and participating in shows and exhibitions and Any other duty as assigned from time to time Job Specifications Minimum Qualifications and Experience Bachelor's Science in Nursing, Six (6) years working experience, three (3) of which as Assistant Clinical Instructor Grade 7 or its equivalent. Registered by nursing council of Kenya Valid practicing Nursing License licensed by the nursing Council of Kenya Member of a recognized professional body and in good standing.
