Job Purpose The Chief Security Officer shall provide an advisory role to management on matters security and coordinate security services and activities within the institution to provide a safe environment. The Chief Security Officer shall report to the Vice Chancellor. Duties and Responsibilities include: Manage security investigations within the university to ensure fast resolution of any incidents and thus assure staff and students of security and safety Direct and control all security operations in the university to ensure smooth operations and enhanced security within the university especially during occasions. Coordinate intelligence gathering within the university to keep abreast with the activities of the university and thus advice management accordingly Develop and implement security policies within the university to ensure compliance to security standards Enhance disaster/ emergency preparedness within the university through training and drills Act as a link between the university and government security agents who can provide support to the university's security function Ensure proper supervision of outsourced security service providers to ensure security of the university Ensure availability that security equipment is functional and are properly maintained to keep them ready for use in case of an emergency Ensure maintenance of all security registers and documents in the university Job Specifications Minimum Qualifications and Experience Master's degree in criminology, Forensic Investigation, Security Management or relevant field. OR Bachelor's degree in in criminology, Forensic Investigation, Security Management or relevant field. Must have nine (9) years' experience, 3 years of which as Senior Security Officer Grade 11 in the University or equivalent.
