Job Summary
- The Merchandiser is responsible for generating demand and secondary sales of the company’s Decorative Paints by being stationed at assigned dealer outlets for specific periods. The role involves engaging walk-in customers, building relationships with painters and contractors, scouting nearby sites and projects, generating leads and converting them into business for the dealer.
Role & Responsibilities
- Be stationed at assigned dealer outlets as per the agreed schedule and actively promote company Decorative Paints.
- Interact with walk-in customers, understand their requirements and recommend suitable company products.
- Generate demand and support the dealer in increasing secondary sales and product movement.
- Make daily calls/contacts to painters and contractors in the assigned area to build rapport and promote company products.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with painters, contractors, applicators and other key influencers.
- Create and manage WhatsApp groups of painters and contractors for regular product communication, updates and engagement.
- Share relevant product information, promotions, offers and company communication through approved WhatsApp groups and other channels.
- Conduct regular visits to nearby construction sites and projects to identify sales opportunities.
- Generate leads from sites, projects, painters, contractors and potential customers and follow up for conversion.
- Convert generated leads into business for the assigned dealer and ensure proper follow-up until sale.
- Support dealers in developing new customers and increasing repeat business.
- Conduct product presentations, demonstrations and product awareness activities when required.
- Ensure company products are properly displayed and adequately promoted at the dealer outlet.
- Maintain regular communication with the dealer and share customer, project and market feedback.
- Monitor competitor products, prices, promotions and activities and share relevant information with the supervisor.
- Maintain accurate records of outlet visits, customer interactions, painter/contractor contacts, site visits, leads and converted business.
- Handle customer enquiries professionally and provide basic product information and support.
- Coordinate with the Sales Representative / Area Sales Manager on leads, projects and business opportunities.
- Prepare daily/weekly activity reports covering outlet engagement, painter/contractor calls, site visits, leads and secondary sales generated.
- Requirements
Academic & Professional Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Sales, Marketing, Business or related field.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good selling and customer-handling skills.
- Customer-focused and target-oriented.
- Good follow-up and organizational skills.
Work Experience
- 1–2 years of sales, merchandising or customer-facing experience, preferably in building materials, FMCG or related industry.

- Self-motivated and proactive.
- Ability to work independently at dealer outlets and in the field.
- Good knowledge of the local market and customer requirements.
