About this role
Responsibilities
- Provide technical input in development, implementation and review of communications, customer and branding strategies, policies , guidelines and procedures;
- Supervise execution of risk management policy and strategies that ensure the division has a robust system and processes of accountability, risk management, internal controls, business continuity and succession management
- Contribute to a corporate culture that promotes ethical practices and good citizenship within the Section;
- Supervise implementation of a robust performance management system within the Division through monitoring on the delivery of the annual performance contract and the strategic plan;
- Oversee implementation of principles of Corporate Governance, relevant national policies, guidelines, and directives within the Division
- Conduct supervision, coaching, mentoring, training and development of the Section staff to ensure an effective and motivated team; and
- Undertake performance appraisal and development of staff in the Division
- Supervising development and review of content for media publicity, speeches, publications, and Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials;
- Oversee internal and external media communication functions;
- Manage implementation of the Institute Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and review reports;
- Monitor and measure public relations and communications effectiveness;
- Manage incoming media requests and building relationships with industry journalists; creating, executing and measuring media campaigns;
- Provide input in formulation, implementation and review of departmental annual work plans, budgets and procurement and asset disposal plans in line with the Corporation’s performance targets and strategic plan;
- Provide input in the development, implementation and review of corruption prevention and mitigation strategies in the division;
- Provide technical input to ensure continuous improvement of business processes and controls in the division and develop mechanisms for corporate consultations;
Qualifications / Work Experience
- Professional Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized Institution
- Professional Cumulative service period of nine (9) years’ relevant work experience, three (3) years of which should have been in the grade of Senior Corporate Communication Officer or in a comparable position
- Academic Bachelors Degree in any of the following disciplines: - Public Relations, Corporate Communication, Journalism, Mass Communication, or its equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized Institution
- Academic Masters Degree in any of the following disciplines: - Public Communication, Public Relations, Mass Communication, Journalism or its equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized Institution
