Renal Nurse

About this role

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for patients with kidney disease.
  • Safely prepare, operate, and monitor haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis treatments.
  • Monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis, recognizing and responding promptly to complications or emergencies.
  • Administer prescribed medications and intravenous therapies in accordance with clinical protocols.
  • Educate patients and their families on kidney disease, dialysis treatment, medication adherence, nutrition, vascular access care, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Maintain dialysis equipment and ensure infection prevention and control standards are consistently followed.
  • Document patient assessments, treatments, and outcomes accurately and promptly.
  • Collaborate with nephrologists, dietitians, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive patient care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and continuous professional development activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
  • Valid nursing registration and current practicing license.
  • Higher Diploma or specialized training in Renal Nursing is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a renal or dialysis unit is preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is an added advantage
