Key Responsibilities
Transportation and Logistics:
- Safely drive NGO staff, VIPs, and project participants to approved destinations, including offices, field sites, and official meetings
- Transport project goods, parcels, documents, and cargo, ensuring timely and secure delivery.
Vehicle Maintenance and Compliance:
- Ensure vehicles are clean, well-maintained, and in good working condition
- Keep vehicle documentation, such as registration, insurance, and maintenance records, up to date
- Report any mechanical issues promptly and coordinate necessary repairs
- Adhere to local traffic laws and organizational safety policies
Operational Support:
- Assist project teams with logistical tasks as needed, including fieldwork support
- Be available during off-hours or emergencies to meet operational demands.
Teamwork and Professional Conduct:
- Build effective relationships with colleagues, external partners, and local authorities
- Demonstrate empathy, respect, and adaptability in diverse work environments
- Contribute to improving transport and logistical systems based on experience and best practices
Qualifications and Skills
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience of 3–5 years or more in professional driving is preferred
- Proficiency in driving manual transmission vehicles
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and basic mechanical troubleshooting
- Strong understanding of local traffic laws and safety regulations Ability to work under pressure, adapt to changing circumstances, and handle emergencies
- Good interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work as part of a team
- Basic literacy and numeracy; computer literacy may be an advantage
- Typically reports to the Procurement and Logistics Officer.
- No direct supervisory responsibilities, but plays a critical role in supporting organizational operations and logistics
Duration and Compensation
- The assignment shall be undertaken on an as-needed basis. The Consultant shall be paid a daily rate of KSh 10,000, inclusive of all logistical and related operational costs incurred in the execution of the assignment.
