Job Purpose To minimize water losses across the supply network by detecting, monitoring, and facilitating timely repair of leaks, as well as identifying and addressing commercial losses such as illegal connections and bypasses. The role supports operational efficiency, accurate billing, and Non-Revenue Water (NRW) reduction initiatives PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES OF LEAK SCOUTING TECHNICIAN Supervise leak scouting and detection teams in carrying out active surveys using acoustic and advanced leak detection technologies and routine patrols. Operate and maintain serviceable leak survey and detection equipment and vans Plan and coordinate routine patrols, inspections, and monitoring of pipelines, valves, and fittings for signs of leakage. Verify and prioritize detected leaks and liaise with repair teams to ensure timely repair. Maintain accurate records of leaks detected, repaired & outstanding, and prepare monthly and periodic reports on surface & sub-surface leaks incidences. Supervise incidental pipe tracing, location and mapping Support establishment, monitoring, and performance evaluation of District Metered Areas (DMAs) Attend to incidental illegal connections and by-passes detection and pipe tracing requests Prepare and provide monthly and periodic reports as required Any other duty as maybe assigned by supervisor ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS: Diploma of Science or Technology or Engineering in civil engineering, water engineering or Instrumentation engineering or related field from a recognized learning Institution EXPERIENCE: Minimum 2 years' experience in related field go to method of application »
